MIDWEST DOUBLEHEADER GOES UP AND DOWN FOR BOURQUE
This weekend’s doubleheader of NASCAR Busch East Series racing proved to be a double shot of headaches for Pierre Bourque.  The series rookie had a rough weekend of racing with his #7 Driving.ca Dodge.
First on the schedule was a Friday night event at Elko Speedway (MN).  With the best of the NASCAR Busch East Series and the NASCAR West Series assembled for the combination race and nearly 50 competitors battling for 30 spots on the starting grid, just qualifying for the race was going to be a challenge.  Unfortunately, Bourque’s time trial lap was not quick enough to get him into the field and as a rookie without the protection of any provisionals, he was forced to miss the event.

On Sunday, Bourque was on hand at the Iowa Speedway under the same circumstances.  This time, he qualified 26th out of 53 cars and put the #7 car safely in the field.

Bourque was running well in the race when another competitor attempted a three-wide pass, which led to a major wreck.  The race was red-flagged and Bourque’s car was too damaged to continue.  He was credited with the 32nd finishing position.

The next race on Bourque’s NASCAR Busch East Series schedule will be on June 2nd at South Boston Speedway (VA).
