About Pierre Bourque
There are plenty of interesting characters in the racing world, as well as in the North American political arena.  Sometimes, there will be some crossover between the two areas, but usually that is limited to a politician lobbying at a racetrack, or something similar to that.

In Pierre Bourque’s case though, balancing the worlds of politics and auto racing is a daily occurrence.
During the week, Bourque is the man behind Bourque Newswatch (www.bourque.org) a website  that goes deep behind the scenes of Canadian politics.  It is dubbed as “Canada's Online News Authority” and the movers and shakers of the country’s political process are known to check out the website multiple times throughout the day.

On the weekends though, Bourque turns into a mover and shaker of his own, by competing in the NASCAR Busch East Series at tracks from New Hampshire to Iowa to the Carolinas.

Bourque got his start in racing back in 1978, when he attended a driving school at Mt. Tremblant, Quebec.  For the next dozen years, he raced formula cars on road courses before stepping out of the driver’s seat to run for office in 1990.  After a stint on the Ottawa City Council, Bourque became one of the early pioneers of political newsgathering on the Internet.  Today, his website attracts over six million readers every month.

In recent years, Bourque has branched out into stock car racing.  He contended for the 2006 Rookie of the Year award in the NASCAR Busch East Series and finished a career-best 13th in the 2006 season finale at Lime Rock Park.  For 2007, he returns to the series joining forces with the Fitz Motorsports team.  He is also planning to compete in
the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, as well as looking forward to his NASCAR Busch Series debut when that tour visits Montreal for the first time, later this summer.

Bourque will do a number of NASCAR Canadian Tire races in 2007, racing for Whitlock Motorsport, owned by former CASCAR champion Dave Whitlock.  click here for information on the team

Bourque has not strayed far from his road racing roots either.  He competed in the 2007 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona for Team TRG, where he finished 12th in the GT class and won the 'Hard Charger' Award for most passes during the race. He plans to do additional Rolex Cups races with TRG this year. click here for information on the team

Off the track and away from his website, Bourque also enjoys many other activities.

Pierre lives in Ottawa, Canada's Capital, where he is married to Kristine and is father to two children, Andre, age 5, and Emilie, age 2.

Bourque is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame, and Chair of the Hall's Communications Committee. Click here for more information

Pierre is also an avid artist. His oil paintings are collected widely, one of which is in the collection of HRH, the Prince of Wales. He has exhibited in California, Louisiana, and Massachusetts. (See http://www.pierrebourqueart.com)

In his downtime, Pierre enjoys writing. He is the author of 4 published books and hundreds of  newspaper and magazine columns. He is also a screenwriter and is completing a script about life on the NASCAR circuit.
